Youth Violence

This paper was written about what appears to be a disturbing trend of society towards more extreme violence in youth. The problem stems from many common threads in most of societys' ills today: poverty, abscent or inadequate parenting, violence that begins early in a childs life, availability of drugs, inapropriate TV watching habits, gang activity. This litany of problems can be related to our culture and its' glorification of violence. Even though violence has been necesary for the survival of most cultures, the prescence of varying cultures in our society is threatening to tear it apart. Supposing that civil war is out of most peoples scope of solutions the best way is to adapt our own culture to bring about a revitalization of moral standards supported by the majority of our society. At the same time people must be made responsible for there action as they generally are today. This kind of carrot and stick approach will eventually pay dividends.
